What is an Undetected Cheat?

"Undetected" is the single most-marketed and most-misunderstood word in the cheat industry. Every vendor advertises their products as undetected. None of them are permanently undetected, including the most expensive and most respected vendors in the market. Understanding what "undetected" actually means is the foundation of being a smart cheat buyer.

Three categories of "undetected"

The cheat-industry use of "undetected" actually packs three distinct properties together. A cheat may be:

• Signature-undetected — the anti-cheat's signature scanner does not currently match any byte pattern from the cheat against its database of known cheat signatures
• Telemetry-undetected — the anti-cheat's behavioral ML and replay-review pipelines have not produced a confirmed ban from the cheat's usage patterns
• Operationally undetected — the cheat's user base is reporting no bans through the vendor's customer support and Discord channels

How a cheat becomes detected

Detection happens through five primary pathways:

1. Reverse engineering by the anti-cheat vendor — anti-cheat staff buy the cheat (or obtain a sample) and extract its binary signatures, then add those signatures to the scanner database. This is the dominant detection path for popular paid cheats.
2. User reports — a cheater is reported by other players, the anti-cheat vendor inspects their session, and finds the cheat's footprint
3. Behavioral ML flagging — an ML model trained on legitimate gameplay flags a player's mouse traces, hit-direction distributions, or click-timing histograms as outliers
4. Replay review — human anti-cheat staff watch suspect player demos and confirm cheat usage from gameplay alone
5. Cheat developer mistakes — a cheat update ships with a bug that crashes the game or generates an anti-cheat-visible artifact, exposing the cheat

Why cheats get "redetected" after being undetected

Cheat developers ship updates to evade detections. When their cheat is added to a signature scanner, they rewrite the detected portions, ship a new version, and the cheat becomes signature-undetected again. This cat-and-mouse cycle is the rhythm of the cheat industry. The time between "fully undetected" and "detected" varies wildly: a small cheat with under a hundred users may stay undetected for months because the anti-cheat vendor doesn't prioritize it. A cheat with thousands of users in a competitive title like Fortnite or Valorant is typically detected within weeks of a signature update.

How to verify an "undetected" claim

Buyer-side verification techniques:

• Read the vendor's status page — most reputable vendors publish per-game status (e.g., "Fortnite: undetected, Rust: detected, Marvel Rivals: undetected since 2026-02-14"). The cheats listed as detected are the honest signal — vendors who never list any product as detected are lying.
• Check the vendor's Discord and bug forum — recent ban reports are visible there
• Watch update frequency — cheats that update weekly are responding to detection pressure; cheats that haven't updated in six months are dead
• Cross-check with third-party review aggregators — independent communities often track ban-wave timing

2026 detection landscape

The 2026 trend is shorter undetected windows. Behavioral ML has compressed the time between cheat release and first bans for new cheat builds.
