What Is ESP in Gaming? Player ESP vs World ESP Explained

Complete guide to ESP (Extrasensory Perception) cheats in gaming — how they work, player vs world ESP, and what to look for.

What Is ESP?

ESP stands for Extrasensory Perception in gaming. An ESP cheat shows you information that you wouldn't normally be able to see — most commonly, the positions of other players through walls and terrain.

Think of it as a heads-up display (HUD) that overlays the game with extra information: enemy positions, health bars, names, distances, weapon info, and loot locations.

How Does ESP Work?

ESP works by reading the game's memory to extract the 3D coordinates of every entity — players, items, objectives. It then projects those positions onto your screen as visual overlays (boxes, skeletons, text, lines).

Unlike old-school wallhacks that modified the game's renderer to make walls transparent, modern ESP draws on top of the normal game view. This makes it harder for anti-cheat systems to detect because the game's rendering pipeline is never modified.

Player ESP vs World ESP

Player ESP

Shows information about other players through walls:

  • Boxes — 2D or 3D rectangles around players
  • Skeletons — Wireframe showing the player's current pose
  • Health Bars — Current health and shield values
  • Names — Player names or hero names
  • Distance — How far away they are in meters
  • Weapons — What weapon they're currently holding
  • Rank/Platform — In Fortnite, shows their rank and platform (PC/Console)

World ESP

Shows non-player information:

  • Weapons & Items — Loot on the ground with rarity filtering
  • Chests & Containers — In Fortnite, shows chests, ammo boxes, and llamas
  • Airdrops — Track airdrop packages in PUBG
  • Vehicles — See available vehicles through terrain
  • Objectives — Extraction points in Arc Raiders, healthpacks in Overwatch 2

Advanced ESP Features

Ultimate Tracker (Overwatch 2 / Marvel Rivals)

Shows the ultimate charge percentage for every player in the match. Know exactly when enemies have their ultimates ready — critical information for team play.

Radar Hack

A 2D mini-map overlay showing all players as dots with directional indicators. Available in PUBG and Arc Raiders with configurable range and size.

Bot Detection (PUBG)

Distinguishes AI bots from real players using different color indicators. Essential for PUBG where bot lobbies are common.

Spectator Outlines (Overwatch 2)

Native ESP that uses Overwatch's own outline system for a subtle advantage that blends with the game's visual style.
