What Is an Aimbot? How Game Aimbots Work in 2026

Complete guide to how aimbots work in modern games like Fortnite, Overwatch 2, PUBG, and Marvel Rivals.

What Is an Aimbot?

An aimbot is software that automatically assists a player's aim in a first-person or third-person shooter. When activated, the aimbot moves your crosshair toward enemy players — either locking on completely or smoothly guiding your aim to the target.

Modern aimbots are far more sophisticated than the simple "snap to head" tools from a decade ago. Today's aimbots include configurable smoothing, field of view (FOV) control, bone selection, bullet prediction, and even movement prediction for projectile-based games.

How Do Aimbots Work?

Aimbots work by reading the game's memory to find the 3D coordinates of every player on the map. The software then calculates the angle between your crosshair and each enemy, and moves your mouse to close that gap.

Key Components

Memory Reading: The aimbot reads the game process's memory to extract player positions, health values, and team information.

Target Selection: Based on your settings, the aimbot chooses which enemy to target — closest to crosshair, nearest distance, lowest health, or priority by role.

Angle Calculation: Using the target's 3D position and your camera's position, the aimbot calculates the exact mouse movement needed.

Smoothing: Instead of snapping instantly (which looks robotic), modern aimbots apply smoothing to make the mouse movement look natural and human-like.

Prediction: For games with bullet travel time (like PUBG or Arc Raiders), the aimbot predicts where the target will be when the bullet arrives, accounting for distance, velocity, and bullet drop.

Types of Aimbots

Smooth Aimbot

The most common type. Smoothly moves your crosshair toward the target over several frames. Looks natural on killcam and spectators. Configurable smoothing speed — higher smoothing = more natural, lower = more aggressive.

Flickbot

Popular in Overwatch 2 and similar games. Only activates when you click to shoot, snapping your crosshair to the target in one instant motion. On killcam, it looks identical to a skilled player's flick aim. Raw Overwatch's flickbot is specifically designed for this playstyle.

Silent Aim

The most advanced type. Your crosshair doesn't visually move, but the game registers your shots as hitting the target. Extremely hard to detect by spectators but requires deeper game integration.

Triggerbot

Technically not an aimbot — a triggerbot doesn't move your mouse at all. Instead, it automatically fires your weapon when your crosshair is already positioned over an enemy. You aim manually; the triggerbot handles the trigger timing. This is the safest option for competitive play.

Aimbot Settings Explained

  • FOV (Field of View): The circular area around your crosshair where the aimbot will engage targets. Smaller FOV = only targets near your crosshair. Larger FOV = targets further from center.
  • Smoothing: How fast the aimbot moves to the target. Higher values look more natural.
  • Bone Selection: Which body part to aim at — head for one-shot kills, chest for reliability, or automatic selection by distance.
  • Prediction: Compensates for bullet travel time and drop. Essential for games like PUBG and Arc Raiders.
  • Visibility Check: Only aim at targets your character can actually see (not through walls).

Which Games Use Aimbots?

Aimbots exist for virtually every competitive shooter. At RawCheats, we offer aimbots for:

  • Fortnite — Fully customizable aimbot with smoothing, bone selection, prediction, and silent aim
  • Overwatch 2 — Flickbot and track aimbot with per-hero auto-applying configs
  • PUBG — Aimbot with bullet prediction, sway control, and distance slider
  • Arc Raiders — Arc aimbot with ballistic prediction and RCS
  • Marvel Rivals — Aimbot with projectile prediction and role-based filtering
